Love to Eat
Day 270 – I love to eat. My whole family loves to eat. And we always enjoy the fresh, deep fried Wisconsin cheese at the County Fair. So, in honor of Julia Child’s 100th birthday, I am posting this photo. I wouldn’t recommend eating fried cheese every day. But once a year…. mmmmmm. Yum!
Another Day Done
Day 269 – Ralph Waldo Emerson tells us to finish each day and be done with it. Tomorrow is a new day and you will not be encumbered with your old nonsense. To grow wiser each day is a special duty and a gift for all of us. I thought I would try a little hdr on this beautiful sunset as the perfect way to end my day.
A Girl in Charge
Day 267 – Walking through the stables I noticed a sign that read – “A horse doesn’t care how much you know, until he knows how much you care. -Pat Parelli”. And if you can make friends with a horse, gain his trust so he yields to you – well, that is a mighty wonderful thing, indeed.
Crazy About Daisy
Day 150 – I love these daisies with the purple and yellow centers. They are all in full bloom at the Lincoln Park Conservatory. It’s a wonderful place to visit (and it’s free). There are rooms for ferns, orchids, garden plants and palms.
Kakery Bakery
Day 143 – This photo is for my son. Every day we drive by the building that once was the Kakery Bakery. Too bad all the goodies are gone. I wonder if they moved or just went out of business.
Lincoln/Douglas Debate Malt or Milkshake
Day 142 – Freeport, Illinois is the site of the famous Lincoln/Douglas debates. It is also the site of the slightly less famous “Union Dairy” ice cream shop.
Democracy
Day 127 – “Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.” – FDR
This is an intimate look inside my voting booth. It is a privilege that many people do not get to experience. I never take this liberty for granted.
