Creepy Cabin

Creepy Cabin

Day 85 – I was having fun playing around with this image in Lightroom. I wanted it to look old and creepy. Did I succeed?

Day 83 – There is a wonderful pond at the college near our home. The swans that live there have their own house and fenced yard to winter in. They are diligent house keepers constantly clearing the path and discouraging curious, young geese from visiting too often.  With a stern look like that who would want to mess with him?

Day 74 – I went to check out the snow sculpting competition today. The judges will see the final works tomorrow so everyone was busy trying to finish up. The place was a buzz with the sounds of chisels and shovels, kids laughing, music playing. It was cold and crisp today and the wood burning in barrels to keep the folks warm was a lovely smell. I’ll try to get back there tomorrow. I always like to see who won.

Day 68 – I took this picture at our town’s Festival of Lights display tonight. The moving car (that I was driving) made for a difficult shot set-up, but the letter box was too sweet to pass up.

Day 64 – December 7, 1941 – “…a day that will live in infamy…” FDR.

This statue is part of a larger display memorializing the other major conflicts America has been in. Someone had left the rose in her hand. I thought that it was worth remembering all the women who serve in wartime and the sacrifices they made.

Day 57 – “It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanates from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.’ – Robert Louis Stevenson

Day 50 – I am thankful that I got to spend this lovely day at the park with my two favorite people. I am also thankful that I got my camera out fast enough to catch this group of geese flying over the water.
