Day 214 – We just watched Nik Wallenda’s wire walk across Niagara Falls. What an amazing achievement! It reminded me of another wire walker, Philippe Petit, featured in the documentary, “Man on Wire”.

White Tulips
Day 213- White tulips are supposed to mean “forgiveness”. I wonder where all these flower “meanings” came from originally? I just think they’re lovely, especially in my favorite McCoy vase.
Mom’s Birthday
Day 212 – Today is my mother’s birthday. Happy Birthday to my first friend in the whole world. What a wild ride it’s been!
Bad Day Emergency Kit
Day 211 – There are all sorts of emergency kits on the market – first aid, car repair, etc. But I came up with this personal emergency kit. Its contents are supposed to help through a rough day. I found it buried in my closet (which tells you that my life is pretty good). But I stocked it with some of my favorite things in case I was ever having a “terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day”. I have some chocolates, some Baileys, pictures of my family, words of wisdom, a candle, tissues to wipe away the tears and some nice smelling lotion. You can put whatever you like in a personal emergency kit. But hopefully, you’ll never need it.

Day 210 – When I was a kid, the rule in our neighborhood was that everyone had to be home by the time the street lights came on.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Day 209 – We celebrated my mom’s birthday with a champagne brunch. Her birthday is actually on Wednesday, but she’s a firm believer in celebrating for at least a week. After brunch we walked around the hotel and discovered this stretch limo Excalibur that was made especially for Luciano Pavarotti. Since she is a big opera fan, this was very exciting.
Jurassic Park
Day 208 – We watched “Jurassic Park” today. That is such a fun summer movie. I thought this would be a good photo to use today.
Bearing Fruit
Day 207 – The pear tree is bearing fruit. I just hope we get to the pears before the bees do. Last year we lost the entire crop to some very hungry wasps.
Peter Rabbit
Day 206 – When our son was very young we read to him every night. Some of his favorite stories came from a collection of Beatrix Potter stories – Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Benjamin Bunny, Ginger and Pickles.
Singing Ice Cream Man
Day 205 – The last day of school marks the start of summer vacation. And what’s better in summer than the sounds of the ice cream truck (or cart)? This ice cream vendor walks the neighborhood near the school ringing his bells and singing. The kids usually aren’t too far behind.
